Lighting of your house is one of its most important aspects. The best of settings are only accentuated by good and adequate lighting. Improper lighting can destroy the whole look of a room and all your efforts that you might have spent decorating it will go waste. So, choose lights that fulfill your requirements and at the same time enhance the beauty of the place.

Bedroom is a place where you relax, sleep and carry other important activities also. So, you need to have adequate lighting for each task. Like for doing any work, you would require bright lighting. A good option is florescent lights. They emit light very similar to natural light and are energy efficient lights. Compact florescent light bulbs are the latest lighting fixtures and are available in plenty of designs.

Many people are into a habit of reading before going to sleep. For this, you can have a night lamp on the side table. For the dressing table, you should have focused light placed just above it so that the light produced is shadow free and you can comfortably dress up your self.

Living room- The first thing to see is the size of your living room. Is it large sized and has vast open spaces, or does it have just about adequate space for few people? In the former case, you should best go for soft lighting to enhance the areas you want to accentuate.

In case your living room area is not that huge, then you should always go for bright lights. A room which is brightly lit appears to be larger. Up lights i.e. lights facing the ceiling are good to use in these rooms as they make the room look higher and more spacious.

If you like to decorate your home with artworks or paintings etc, then you should place them in areas where they can be noticed. To draw attention to such special pieces, you can use lights to accentuate them. Lights make them look really amazing. Also, keep the lights around them dim so that they are noticed separately.

You may choose bright colored lamp shades in case of a children room. Keep a switch close to the platform beds for the children to use the lights without much discomfort.

Your requirements for a hobby room would be more simple, but functional, and would fit the exact need for the specific hobby ” be it painting, or carpentry. The lighting should facilitate the functional requirements, and must complement your furniture.
